Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Is this phone worth buying?

Introduction:

After months of waiting, Samsung has finally launched the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. I have been using it for the few days. I will tell you everything whether it is the design, display, performance, camera and even the battery.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Design and Build:

But first, I will talk about the Edge design.

Okay, so the first time I picked it up, I was completely surprised by two things.

The first thing is the weight of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, because it is extremely light, it is just 163 grams. And secondly, the thickness because it is quite thin. But actually, it feels completely different when you hold it in your hand. At just 5.8mm, it is the thinnest Samsung phone ever and if you compare it to other phones like the S25 or S25 Ultra, you can clearly see the difference. It is quite a lot. Although this phone is thin, it is extremely durable.

It has the same titanium frame that you see in the Ultra series, which means it is durable as well as lightweight. But we don’t know what grade of titanium they are using on this one.

There is Glass Victus 2 protection on the back, which is the same for the entire S25 lineup but there is a brand new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection on the front and they say it is just as durable as the Armor 2 on the S25 Ultra. Definitely better than Gorilla Glass Victus 2. There is no change in the position of the volume and power buttons but they are a bit wider this time. You also get a faster Type C port on the bottom and the SIM slot is a proper dual SIM slot. They could have gone with a single SIM and eSIM combo but instead, they retained both physical SIM slots.

And the phone is IP68 rated so it can handle your carelessness. One big difference between the S25 series and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is the camera module design Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is quite refreshing to hold. And since we are not used to holding such light and thick phones in our hands, it feels quite good in the hand. There is one small thing or maybe I was holding it too tightly, but other than that, it just feels good. And if you are wondering about colors, we have Titanium Silver but you can also opt for the Jet Black variant.

Display and Multimedia:

Now let’s talk about the display as it is also quite impressive. It is a big, bright and sharp 6.7-inch 2K 120Hz LTPO panel with a peak brightness of 2600 nits and also has HDR10+ support. And if I compare it with other’s 25 devices, you will see that the display is just as good as the Ultra and even in direct sunlight or indoors, it is quite bright and sharp. There is no anti-reflective coating here but the bezels are a little, just a little thinner than the S25 Plus. I also watched a few movies and shows on this phone and the experience was really better than I expected. HDR support on all apps is one thing, I was expecting that too but the audio experience surprised me the most.

Stereo Speakers:

Let’s talk about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge speakers,

Even though this is an ultra-thin phone, there are good stereo speakers with good sound separation and they are quite loud too. And since this is a very lightweight phone, you can hold it for hours and even if it falls on your face, you will be fine

Haptics Of This Phone:

And yes, because of this thin design, the haptics also feel a bit more responsive so the feedback you get with every swipe or action is clearer.

Performance & Benchmark:

Samsung hasn’t skimped on performance either. You get the Snapdragon 8 Elite on board with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There’s a vapor chamber at the back and thermal tape to ensure the phone stays cool.

Okay, So these are the AnTuTu and Geek bench scores of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

Gaming Experience:

And in gaming terms, this is the supported setting gameplay in some of the most popular titles. The gameplay is smooth, there are no frame drops or anything, but the phone does get heated up. In normal day to day usage, the phone is easy to use whether it is while using the camera, scrolling reels, or making phone calls. Yes, it does get heated up, but given the slim size, this was not expected.

Mobile Software and Updates:

And now, if I talk about the software, you are getting one UI 7 based on Android 15 with 7 years of server support. In terms of features, you get all the cool new features like live actions, now brief, object remover, circle search and more.

Gemini Live Video Streaming:

In this phone you also get Gemini live video streaming, like you point it at any object then it will tell you what exactly it is or what object it is, this feature gives you information about that thing. So, for example, if you are on vacation and you see something really exciting, just use this feature of Gemini Live and your problem will be solved.

Camera Review:

Let’s talk about the camera on Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The main camera is the same 200MP sensor that you get on the S25 Ultra. And this phone has a 12MP ultrawide camera that can also take micro shots. On the front, you get a 12MP camera which is bigger than the one on the S25. You can record 4K 60 HDR videos from both the front and front cameras. It also supports high-res long videos.

The main camera takes really good photos, and it captures details well, looks great and handles HDR well. Also, at night, the photos are great. It performs really well in terms of colors, even when you enter the sun frame, the phone handles it quite well. I found the ultrawide camera to be quite consistent, almost all the photos came out good. The selfies come out quite sharp and there is detail and color too.

Battery Life:

So, let’s now talk about the most important point, Battery life.

The phone is powered by a 3900mAh battery, it supports 25W charging as well as 15W wireless charging and surprisingly, it also supports 4.5W reverse wireless charging. If I talk about the battery life, I got around 3 hours and 40 minutes of battery life from this phone in day-to-day usage. And where I used it for Google Maps navigation, played a few sessions of BGMI, and used some social media apps.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Connectivity:

In terms of connectivity, this phone supports all 5G bands, NFC and Ultrawide bands. And it has WIFI 7, and it comes with Bluetooth 5.4. This phone also supports eSIM.

Pricing:

Now finally we will talk about the price of this phone, Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes in India at a starting price of Rs. 1,09,999 for the 12GB/256GB variant.
